AfriClassical first wrote of the connection between the Congo and Classical Music in 2007. In 2010 we learned Maestro Michael Morgan of the Oakland East Bay Symphony Orchestra had visited the Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra in 2001. From 2010 to the present, a documentary film and CBS News reports have gradually begun to create awareness in the United States of the remarkable achievement of a locally-created Symphony Orchestra by performers living in one of the world's poorest nations.
