Fine and Performing Arts Department, Chair
Morgan State University
Hello everyone,
Today, Opera at Morgan presented their matinee performance of their Spring Productions - Puccini's Suor and Angelica and Moore's Devil & Daniel Webster. The productions were spectacular! One person who was in attendance commented: "The Met comes to Morgan State University!" All of the students performed admirably. What an incredible experience to give our students an opportunity to sing Grand Opera on a big stage. Yes, it isn't cheap, but well worth it. Again, I say to you, just $15.00 for tickets 8PM on both Friday, April 11, and Saturday April 12. During the Saturday matinee at 2PM, tickets are only $10.00. Directors Vincent Stringer and Dwight Cooke have given our students excellent direction in these productions. The performance features an orchestra in the pit. Music directors Lester Green and Marvin Mills accompanied the singers quite sensitively with the orchestra. As you can tell from these photos, the set is spectacular! The sculpture of the Black Madonna was made by faculty member Blaise DePaolo. You will only be able to attend a performance tomorrow night or Saturday. No performances on Sunday! Don't delay. I encourage you to attend this stellar production. See you at the Opera!
Eric Conway, D.M.A.
