Kameron Johnson, 15-year-old jazz pianist, is $10,000 Winner of 2nd Annual 'Sphinx Stars Detroit'

Sphinx Stars: Detroit is proud to announce the recipient of the $10,000 Grand Prize in this second annual competition as 15-year-old jazz pianist,

Kameron Johnson! The two runners-up are 18-year-old Stuart Carlson, a dazzling young violinist and Ali McManus, 17, a heartfelt singer-songwriter. Congratulations to Kameron, Ali, Stuart and all of the finalists who performed beautifully for the judges! 

Each of the 9 finalists will have continued performance opportunities and Kameron Johnson will be a featured soloist later this year with a special piece written for jazz piano and orchestra in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles Showcase on November 17, 2014. 

Thank you to Detroit Performs and Detroit Public Television for presenting this special showcase and sharing the talent of these outstanding young musicians with audiences far and wide!
