Eric Conway: Morgan State University Choir sings for Maryland 9-11 Memorial Ceremony

Hello Morgan Fine Arts Community,

It has been quite some time since you have heard that the Morgan State University Choir has performed publicly, however, this morning, the choir performed LIVE for the first time in over eighteen months - albeit an octet of the choir due to space constraints of the program site! We were asked by the Maryland State Arts Council to provide music for the very solemn service of remembrance on the 20th anniversary of 9-11 at the Maryland State 9-11 Memorial in front of Baltimore's World Trade Center.

There were Marylanders who lost their lives at the two World Trade Center Towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and passengers who overtook the airplane that was destined for Washington, D.C. but crashed in Shanksville, PA, for a potential fourth target on that horrific day. The Maryland 911 Memorial pays tributes to victims of each of these locations. The Morgan choir happened to sing for the opening of the Maryland 9-11 Memorial ten years ago on this day. During this morning’s program, Lieutenant Governor Boyd K. Rutherford spoke eloquently of his unique experience on that day, as we all will never forget that day!

Please see pics. attached from the memorial, the program, and a link to the video of the entire fifty-four minute program.

We must never forget!
