The Chineke! Foundation was just
awarded $390,000 by the Arts Council England recovery grant that will
enable the Chineke! Orchestra to perform "behind closed doors" concerts
at the Royal Festival Hall this fall and to deliver a program of work in
2021
Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE the founder and executive director of Chineke! issued a statement saying that
"This
grant has been transformational for Chineke!. It has allayed our
worries about survival in the short to medium-term and is enabling us to
continue performing, albeit without an audience, over the coming months.
This will keep Chineke! in the public eye via our streamed concerts and
steer much needed earnings to our freelance musicians who have suffered
so much over the past six months. Thank you Arts Council England."
