John Malveaux: Ed Bland's widow recently shared the following with me "Cambria Records released a CD of Ed’s piano music, URBAN COUNTERPOINT"

Ed Bland

John Malveaux of MusicUNTOLD.com writes:

Little Known deceased composer and friend Ed Bland's wife, Mary Batten-Bland, recently shared the following with me "Cambria Records released a CD of Ed’s piano music, URBAN COUNTERPOINT, performed by Judith Olson, the pianist with whom Ed had been working for several years. He had planned to record it the summer that he passed away the preceding March. Thankfully, I was able to pull this together and oversee the recording for him..
Also don’t know whether I told you that Ed’s handwritten scores and much archival material are now housed in Yale University’s Beinecke Library, the James Weldon Johnson Collection of African American Arts and Letters."
