In its seventh year, the Geneva Music Festival runs through June 17
with concerts that Director Geoffrey Herd calls incredibly appealing. "I
think this season includes our most interesting programming to date,"
he says.
Up next is "Music, Poetry, and Perspectives: A Celebration of African
American Culture," a series that begins June 7 with "Blues And
Spirituals" at the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts, Geneva, that
is repeated June 10 at the First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles.
Pianist Michelle Cann will make her GMF debut to be joined by Eliot
Heaton, Geoffrey Herd, Shawn Moore, Colin Brookes, and Max Geissler. The
program includes Dvorak's "American" string quartet; David Baker's
piano trio "Roots," and other works inspired by African-American music.
