Before you head to your next concert, check out these tips from music director of the Fox Valley Symphony, Brian Groner.
***
Go deep: With a few listening tidbits
under your belt, here’s Groner’s last piece of advice: choose one
composer you connect with and spend the next few weeks getting to know
their body of work. Groner adds that the more you listen to a composer’s
full spectrum of works, the more intimately you will understand how
they express themselves through music.
If you’d
like to diverge from the classics like Mozart and Beethoven, take the
music of Clara Schumann, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor or Leo Brouwer for a
spin.
