MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS are now available for graduating high school students, sponsored by the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts

CAAPA MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS are now available for graduating high school students with an interest in music, sponsored by the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA). Each year the 501c3 arts organization offers graduating high school music students an opportunity to perform in a Student Showcase with this year's free showcase scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Oxon Hill Public Library, Oxon Hill at 11:00 am. Having performed before an audience of peers, parents, guests, and music professionals, they are mentored, critiqued, and judged on their performance of two selections; one classical and one of their choice. All students who perform and meet the criteria are then awarded a financial scholarship, with one student selected to receive additional money and awarded the CAAPA Youth Music Award.
This year, CAAPA is also offering complimentary tickets to the first applicants who apply for the music scholarship to attend the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions in Washington, DC on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 12:00 pm.
