Sunday, December 11, 2016 Holman United Methodist Church presented their
annual MESSIAH concert featuring The Holman Choir & Chamber
Orchestra. Holman is the centerpiece of classical music in the
predominate but not exclusive African American church community.
Conductor William Campbell has maintained/continued excellence despite
an aging male and female choir. Holman choirs mirror a disturbing trend
and departure from intellectual music by African American youth.
In
these worse of times for intellectual music in African American
communities, Holman collected a large audience and presented a first
class program. See photos of four (4) distinguished soloists taken before
start of program: soprano Yolanda M. West, alto Carol Wooten, tenor
Haqumai W. Sharpe, and bass Kenneth L. Scott, Jr. Robert Johnson Jr was
the organist and Joseph Taylor was concert master.
