On February 10, 2015 AfriClassical posted a news release from Brooklyn College:
Composers Now, a month-long, New York City-wide festival that features diverse works by living composers, recently received a grant from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund  Distinguished Professor Tania León of the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music is the artistic director of the festival.

The February 2015 Composers Now Festival includes a tribute to composer Alvin Singleton:

On February 26, the Kings County Family Court pays special tribute to Alvin Singleton as part of its second annual Celebration of Black History Month. The celebration, which takes place in Singleton’s birthplace, Brooklyn, New York, honors the achievements and skills of African Americans throughout the country. Created by the Honorable Jeanette Ruiz (Deputy Administrative Judge, NYC Family Court, and Supervising Judge, Kings County Family Court), the event also includes a keynote address by Honorable Sheila Abdus-Salaam, Associate Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals.
The tribute to Alvin Singleton includes a performance of his Mookestueck for five-string electric viola performed by Martha Mooke, to whom the work is dedicated. This musical tribute is presented in collaboration with Composers Now as part of the February 2015 Composers Now Festival.
