Eric Owens
Robert Sims
Lena McLin
On January 2, 2013 AfriClassical posted Chicago Sinfonietta's 25th Anniversary Season Continues MLK Weekend with Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. January 20 & 21.
Today Sergio Mims relayed this release from Eric Eatherly on behalf of the Chicago Sinfonietta, informing us of the back injury sustained by Eric Owens, and his replacement for the January 20 and 21 concerts with Robert Sims, whose website is: http://www.robertsims.com/. He will sing Lena McLin’s I’m a Soldier (Spiritual Suite):
Hi Sergio,
Some
changes are afoot with the Sinfonietta’s MLK program. Sadly, Eric
Owens has injured his back and will not be appearing with the
Sinfonietta this weekend. Needless to say, he won’t be making his
conducting debut, and Mei-Ann Chen will conduct the regularly scheduled
work, Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings.
Owens was also scheduled to sing in Lena McLin’s I’m a Soldier
(Spiritual Suite), so in his stead baritone Robert Sims will join the
Sinfonietta for this work. Interesting note, Sims actually premiered I’m a Soldier. You can read more about Sims here.
I
wanted to let you know of this change as soon as we heard...
Thanks,
Eric
