Clipper Erickson: Performing Nathaniel Dett on tour

Clipper Erickson writes:

On R. Nathaniel Dett’s 137th birthday in October, I shared a program with the Westminster Jubilee Singers and soprano Rochelle Ellis in Down from the Heavens at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. WWFM was there to capture it all.

In November, I toured in Maryland and North Carolina for a series of performances and workshops. It began with a performance and master class at Baltimore's Morgan State University (pictured) where I shared the music and story of Dett.

Then it was off to North Carolina for a lecture/recital at Livingstone College in Salisbury and two recitals at Steinway Piano Galleries in Greensboro and Charlotte. The fabulous Steinway concert grand was awesome for performing Pictures at an Exhibition!
As ever, it was a joy to celebrate the work of Dett and others whose music has contributed so generously to my life.
