Dear Friends,

Julius Williams, conductor
Bass, Kevin Maynor as Kenyatta and
Tenor, Sam McKelton as Oginga Odinga

The opera tells the story of Jomo Kenyatta, statesman, freedom fighter, and the first president of Kenya. It explores Kenya’s struggle for independence from Great Britain, the challenges of freedom, and the conflict between Kenyatta and his Vice President Oginga Odinga.

Excerpts from the opera will be staged with soloists, the TAOC chorus, dancers and chamber orchestra.

The performance will take place on Saturday, August 6 at 7:00 pm at the Science Theater, (at the Science Park High School), 260 Norfolk Street in Newark, New Jersey 07103. Admission is FREE.
I hope you can make it!
