World-renowned concert pianist Awadagin Pratt will perform with the Des Moines Symphony for its Sept. 25 and 26 season debut, replacing originally scheduled guest pianist Andrew Tyson, the symphony announced Monday.
Pratt will perform Florence Price's "Piano Concerto in One Movement" during the concerts, with Saturday's performance scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's 2:30 p.m. at the Des Moines Civic Center, 221 Walnut St. Tickets range from $15 to $70.
Pratt's accolades and achievements include winning the Naumburg International Piano Competition in 1992 and serving as artistic director of the Art of the Piano Festival. He is a professor of music at the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.
