Dear Bill, Would you please help us celebrate the 50^th Anniversary of Officer Clemmons on Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. It’s PBS’s longest running children’s television show. It also marks the longest tenure for an African American on American television in a recurring role on a children’s program. Officer Clemmons was the first (1968), and it’s still showing in many markets. A film, entitled Won’t You Be My Neighbor, directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville, featuring the life of Fred Rogers was recently showcased at  Sundance Film Festival to a standing ovation. Officer Clemmons’ role is showcased in that documentary. It will have national release in June 2018. In addition to other events planned for this 50^th Anniversary, PBS will have a national fundraiser honoring Fred Rogers on March 6-8, 2018 which will also include the special contribution of this African American singer/actor. Various showbiz personalities will offer commentary. Check your local listing for time. Thank you in advance for  your time and consideration.
