Dear Friend,

It is here!

Amid the excitement of the holiday season, today is the day! An absolute moment of joy! Today is the 141st birthday of our beloved scholar, writer, publicist and activist, Dr. Carter G. Woodson!

Founded in 1915, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), the brainchild of Dr. Woodson, has passed the first century mark.  Those of us who love truth and intellectual integrity must help to continue Woodson's rich legacy so that future generations will revel in an accurate recording of the contributions of people of African descent to the nation and world.

We must ensure that there are voices and forums for our stories to be told and interpreted by us.  "Those who have no record of what their forebears have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography and history." Carter G. Woodson

With your support, we can continue to research, interpret, disseminate and preserve our history.

Make history with a donation to ASALH today, Dr. Woodson's birthday.

Make it your moment of joy this holiday season!

Sincerely,

Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham
ASALH National President
