The organization will host a live-streamed Town Hall Meeting in Cleveland on Monday to kick off the Republican and Democratic Conventions with a focus on the concerns of Black women voters.

“BlackWomenVote: Our Voices, Votes and Leadership Matter”, will be a conversation to elevate Black women voter's voices in the election cycle and the issues they care about leading into the two conventions as a critical voting bloc.

The event expects to draw hundreds of Black women to  the main campus auditorium of Cleveland State University. The forum will be done in a town hall format and will include a diverse cross section of Black women that can discuss this issue from a variety of perspectives--politics, media, business, community. Panelists for the session include:
L. Toni Lewis, SEIU, Glynda C. Carr, Higher Heights, Petee Talley, AFL-CIO, and Erika Washington, Make it Work among others.

According to Higher Heights founder Glynda Carr, this conversation takes place at a critically important time.

"Black women showed up in record numbers during the 2008 and 2012 cycles, and our voices and voters are just as essential to the election process in 2016 as well said Carr. "When a Black woman gets fired up, she does not go to the polls alone, she takes her family, her friends, and her community with her. At the town hall we will discuss how the 2016 election cycle provides an opportunity to harness and build Black women’s political power by turning out the vote and leveraging that voting strength into power."
