While honoring the finest traditions of the University of Michigan to challenge the present and enrich the future, the
Michigan Men's Glee Club takes a bold step forward to engage
audiences in thinking deeper about race and social justice - among the
most polarizing issues facing our country throughout its history - in
Love, Life & Loss, premiering on Detroit Public Television on Thursday, June 16th, at 8:00 P.M. ET.
"Our performance of 'Seven Last Words of the
Unarmed,' paired with 'Glory,' provided an exceptional opportunity for
the Glee Club to raise awareness and foster critical discourse around
issues of race," said Eugene Rogers." In light of
the most recent tragedy in Orlando, I am reminded of how important it
is for our students, staff, faculty and community members alike to be
able to engage in dialogue (whether we agree or disagree) in a
constructive manner. This documentary and the work by
Joel Thompson are examples of how art provides an excellent way of
sharing perspectives on the most pressing issues of our time."
This is a powerful documentary that should not be missed. Viewers can watch on Thursday, June 16th, at 8:00 P.M. ET on Detroit Public TV or online at
