Franz
Liszt, the great 19th century piano virtuoso and daring composer
realized that the future of classical music lay in no small measure with the rising group of young Americans who came to Europe to study with him. MELODEON presents some of Liszt’s own music
paired with selections by his student, Arthur Bird, as well as a
significant song cycle by one of Liszt’s American artistic heirs: the American composer, William Bolcom.
