Retired Metropolitan Opera Tenor and University of Michigan Joseph Edgar Maddy Distinguished University Emeritus Professor of Voice George Shirley performed Civil War era songs during 150th Anniversary Emancipation Proclamation Concert on September 22, 2012 in Los Angeles co produced by MusicUNTOLD and KUSC Classical Radio 91.5FM. All songs were previously recorded on CD titled Warren M. Swenson: Battle Pieces. The concert was broadcast (delayed) with 30 day podcast. I attended the University of Michigan for my MM and DMA. It was always so good to see Mr. Shirley in the hall. Always a smile and a hello, even though I am sure he had no idea who I was.
