Anthony McGill
(David Finlayson / Baltimore Sun)
May 14, 2014 | By Tim Smith
WQXR in New York reports that Anthony McGill, one of the most eloquent clarinetists of our day, will join the New York Philharmonic in September as principal.
***
If you heard McGill's sublime account of the Mozart concerto with the Baltimore Symphony a couple months ago, you know how fortunate the Philharmonic will be.
Meanwhile, classical fans around here can enjoy McGill's artistry on Sunday in a recital presented by Music in the Valley at St. John's Episcopal Church.
He will be accompanied by Christopher Shih, winner of the 2011 Van
Cliburn Amateur Piano Competition (and a gastroenterologist formerly
based in Howard County).
