Metropolitan Atlanta Musicians Association, Inc. of NANM: 'Invitation to perform at celebration of the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1968'

April 11, 1968 - A week after the assassination of Martin Luther King, the Civil Rights Act of 1968 was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The law prohibited discrimination in housing, protected civil rights workers and expanded the rights of Native Americans.      

 

Dear Music Colleague,

 

The Metropolitan Atlanta Musicians Association, Inc. of the National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc. is celebrating this momentous occasion with a Scholarship Benefit Concert on Friday, April 11 starting at 7 PM.  It will be held at the Emma and Joe Adams Concert Hall at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center on the campus of Morehouse College Music Department. 

 

We are inviting you to suggest or be a musical guest(s) to perform at this concert.  Our national mission states:  NANM promotes, preserves, and supports all genres of music created or performed by African Americans.

 

MAMA, Inc. is asking for at least two to three selections with a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes for your performance.  If you would like to donate yourself or your group toward this celebration, please contact our Program Committee in the following manner.
