John Malveaux of www.MusicUNTOLD.com writes:

'Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport’ was screened by the Long Beach Central Area Association at the Long Beach Art Theater prior to winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2000. Kindertransport (German for Transport children) is a rescue mission that took place during the nine months prior to the outbreak of the Second World War The United Kingdom took in nearly 10,000 predominantly Jewish children from Nazi Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and the Free City of Danzig. The children were placed in British foster homes, hostels, schools and farms. Often they were the only members of their families who survived the Holocaust Through a community partner between the Long Beach Central Area Association and the Geffen Playhouse on March 15, 2014, a group of Cambodian immigrants witnessed Mona Golabek in the Pianist of Willesden Lane. See http://geffenplayhouse.com/more_info.php?show_id=161
