Patrick D. McCoy covers his first arts story at The White House for Washington Life Magazine

Just a few months after moderating a post performance panel discussion at The Kennedy Center, Washington Life Performing Arts Columnist Patrick D. McCoy was invited to cover the National Medal of Arts and Humanities Medal Ceremony at The White House.

Washington Life Magazine Performing Arts Columnist Patrick D. McCoy last week was among the invited press to cover the National Arts and Humanities Medal Ceremony last week at The White House.  McCoy  just a few months ago moderated an after performance panel at The Kennedy Center.  Among the medal recipients were Jenny Bilfield, who accepted the award on behalf of Washington Performing Arts Society and soprano RenĂ©e Fleming.  Both were interviewed in WL's column "Perfect Pitch" in December 2012 and 2012 respectively.  Recently named music director of Trinity Episcopal Church in Northwest Washington, D. C. McCoy maintains a busy schedule as a conductor, organist and arts critic.  As founding president of the Ben Holt Memorial Branch of the National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc., he was honored for his three years of exemplary leadership.  He is an alumnus of Virginia State University and was recently named to the alumni board of directors at Shenandoah University, where he received the Master of Music in 2005.
