The
members of the Brazeal Dennard Chorale proudly displayed their World
Choir Games gold medals during an Encore Concert before an appreciative
audience at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church. The Chorale returns to
action on Dec. 2 at Orchestra Hall.
An
added attraction at the Brazeal Dennard Holiday Concert will be a

DETROIT/Nov. 9, 2012—The
award-winning Brazeal Dennard Chorale, directed by Dr. Augustus Hill, will
present its 41st annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, Dec. 2 at Orchestra
Hall.
The
concert will feature an evening of music designed to usher in the holiday
season including carols, classical works and sacred Negro spirituals performed
by members of the Brazeal Dennard Chorale, which won gold and silver medals at
the 2012 World Choir Games.
“Coming
off the Chorale’s success this summer in Cincinnati at the World Choir Games,
our members are excited to perform before our hometown audience at historic
Orchestra Hall,” said Don Robinson, executive director of the Brazeal Dennard
Chorale.
“The
Chorale looks forward to presenting a festive evening of music and family
entertainment that is sure to appeal to all segments of our community.”
An
added attraction will be selections performed by the Brazeal Dennard Chorale
Young People’s Chorus, featuring male and female singers ranging in age from
eight to 18.

our prospective audience following the World Choir Games Encore Concert,” said
Janice Cowan, an alto in the Chorale. “The people I have spoken to say they
can’t wait for the Holiday Concert and we are excited about performing for
them.”
Named
after its legendary founder, the late Brazeal Dennard, the Brazeal Dennard
Chorale’s mission is to “remember, discover, preserve, and share the Negro
spiritual as a part of the artistic community, and to rediscover and perform
significant choral works by African American composers.” The Chorale’s
members represent a diverse cross section of local people who have found a
musical home in the group including doctors, lawyers, teachers, day laborers
