"DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) has released a new compact disc recording of two 20th century works: William Grant Still's Symphony No. 1 ("Afro-American") and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 6. Both performances were recorded live at the Schuster Center during the DPO's 2008-2009 season, and both were conducted by the DPO's Music Director, Neal Gittleman. The performance of William Grant Still's Symphony No. 1 includes the recitation of poems by Paul Laurence Dunbar by Dr. Herbert Woodward Martin of the University of Dayton. Each of the Symphony's four movements is prefaced by a Dunbar poem."
