Tunde Jegede, http://www.tundejegede.com, is a popular composer of Nigerian descent who was born in 1972 and lives in the U.K. On August 9, 2010 AfriClassical posted news which was brought to our attention by Michael S. A stunning performance of traditional and contemporary African music and images.

"Beautiful and unusual sounds and images are combined in a stunning performance of traditional and contemporary African music and photography. Be transported to distant lands through the mesmerising music of this highly accomplished ensemble which has a distinct acoustic classical sound and has worked and recorded with some of the most celebrated African artists around today.

"Headed by the prolific producer and songwriter, Tunde Jegede, the ensemble has uncovered and now performs traditional African music that is in danger of being lost or forgotten. They have also worked on film and television soundtracks and collaborated with the London Sinfonietta and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The musicians use both traditional and modern instruments and they perform against a stunning backdrop of photographic images of Mali, creating a truly magical and atmospheric experience. 'Strikingly elegant … subtly blending the ebb and flow of traditional kora-playing with dynamic bass-treble contrasts more familiar from western guitar music, Jegede’s virtuosity glowed.' The Guardian"

"Suitable for all ages
Friday 24th September. The Barn, Tapeley Park, Instow. 8pm. Tickets £7.50 (ad)/£5(ch)/£20(fam) - Tel 01271 861224."

Michael S. Wright also tells us: "Tunde Jegede will also be playing at 7:30 pm Lee Parish Church on 25th September 01271 862906."
