New York Premiere of Fred Onovwerosuoke's “Meditation for Darfur”, Jan. 26, 2008

Dance Revolutions is a concert of ballet music for chamber orchestra, to be performed at 8 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 in the Merkin Concert Hall, 129 West 69th Street, New York City. Lori-Kaye Miller, mezzo-soprano, will perform with Ensemble du Monde, led by Marlon Daniel, conductor.

Ghanaian composer Fred Onovwerosuoke has written Meditation for Darfur (2006) on the theme of the humanitarian tragedy in the Darfur Region of Sudan. Following Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring, Manuel de Falla's El Amor Brujo will be presented in its original 1915 version, which is not often heard. The soloist will be the African American mezzo-soprano Lori-Kaye Miller.
