Julius Penson Williams (b. 1954) is an African American composer, conductor and educator who is Professor of Music in the Composition Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston. His career is detailed at AfriClassical.com and at his personal website, http://www.juliuspwilliams.com
Maestro Williams has suggested that we also post a link to “Moments of Arrival Movements 1 and 2,” as well as “Moments of Arrival Movement 3,” composed by Elena Roussanova Lucas. The work was given its World Premiere in the Great Hall by the Moscow Conservatory Orchestra under his direction, in May 2010:

The music of Elena Roussanova Lucas has been performed and heard around the world. Her prolific writing encompasses many diverse styles including music for orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, solo pieces as well as Broadway and popular style songs.
“A partial list of organizations and artists that have performed Elena's works include: The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, The Tchaikovsky State Orchestra of Moscow, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Music Director, The Russian National Orchestra Brass Quintet, members of the Bolshoi Ballet, The Dallas Brass, violinist Charles Castleman, trumpeter Terry Everson, Ballet Lubbock and others. As a composer for Warner Bros/Alfred Music Publishers, since 2001, Elena's compositions have been regularly chosen for Editor's Choice distinction by the J.W. Pepper Co. Several of her pieces for orchestra, string orchestra and wind ensemble are included on many different U.S.A. state music lists including Virginia, Texas, Florida and others.

She received her degrees from Ippolitov-Ivanov Academy/College of Music, Moscow and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Summa Cum Laude), Moscow, where she was a composition student of Tikhon Khrennikov and Tatiana Choodova.”

Previous work experience includes Boston University, Texas Tech University, Boston Ballet School and Ballet Lubbock. Elena is a member of the prestigious United Russian Composers Union and is in demand as a clinician and conductor presenting clinics across the U.S.A., Costa Rica and Russia.”
