On
Tuesday June 21 I will be broadcasting on WHPK-FM Chicago the recent
acclaimed Lyrita recording of Jamaican/British composer Eleanor
Alberga's Violin Concerto No 1.
A
graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London Ms. Alberga has
composed numerous works for orchestra including 2 violin concertos,
chamber music, work for solo piano and operas.
This
recording features the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by
Joseph Swensen and the solo violinist is Thomas Bowes who also happens
to be Ms. Alberga's husband.
Also
on the pr0gram will be John Adam's oratorio The Gospel According to the
Other Mary. And as always my show can be hard on WHPK locally from 12-3PM (Central Time) in the Chicago area on 88.5FM and worldwide on the station livestream at whpk.org
