Virtuoso
violinist. Confidant to Marie Antoinette. Crusader for the abolishment of
slavery. Inspiration to Mozart. The Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
Discover
the many identities of 18th-century Black composer Joseph Bologne in
this powerful concert-theater work. Written and directed by Bill Barclay, The
Chevalier weaves together Bologne’s own music with semi-staged dialogue to
tell his long-forgotten story and offer a thoughtful meditation on the
true nature of equality.
