The Harlem Chamber Players: "In Song and Spirit: A Musical Documentary" Friday, December 18, 2020 at 7 PM ET

We hope you will join us for a virtual film presentation of the musical documentary In Song and Spirit, conceived by harpist-scholar Dr. Ashley Jackson. Experience excerpts from Harriet Jacobs's memoir Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, as Dr. Jackson also examines her own family history to explore themes of migration and black womanhood. Featuring live performances of the spirituals "Deep River," "I'm Troubled in Mind," and "Angels Have Changed My Name" arranged by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and transcribed by Dr. Jackson. This film also features vocalist Freddie June. The filmmaker is Malik Isasis.

The film premiere is FREE and open to the public and you may watch this on our Facebook page or YouTube channel.
