Eric Conway: Opera at Morgan continues to flourish during period of remote instruction!

till the new day

Dr. Eric Conway writes:

Hello Morgan Fine and Performing Arts community!

Once again, teachers and students in Morgan’s Fine and Performing Arts department are finding ways to continue their craft during this period of remote education.  Morgan’s opera program, led by Vocal Coordinator Marquita Lister,  produced an opera entitled:  Freedom Dreams -  a virtual performance of operatic arias around current themes in our society.  Students enrolled in our Opera Workshop course were given arias to sing and asked to connect these arias with essays around issues in contemporary society. The product yielded profound social commentaries, with insights into our society that national pundits should absorb.  After our recent virtual theatrical production of Marisol,  I do not believe any other university in the area is continuing to offer the performance opportunities that this department has created for our students during this pandemic.

See link below to the production, which is ultimately a premiere of a student created opera!
