This evening in Charlottesville, a sold-out performance
will take place of Sandra Seaton and William Bolcom’s song cycle “From
the Diary of Sally Hemings” featuring Alsyon Cambridge (soprano, star of
Broadway, Carnegie Hall and the Met) as Sally Hemings, with Justina Lee
on piano. “Sally on West Main” is a multi-media presentation of this
work, tying it to the time that Sally left Monticello at the end of her
life, and moved to downtown to West Main St.
The
production features new video from Brooklyn-based media arts Marisa
Williamson, and segments from the documentary “West Main St” by Chris
Farina and Reid Oechslin.
