Maestro Marlon Daniel once again shows his dedication to diversity in classical music and Saint-Georges with the success of the 2nd Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges in Guadeloupe.
This year celebrates the 220th Aniversary of the death of Joseph BOLOGNE, Chevalier de SAINT-GEORGES (1745-1799).
The week long festival of eleven concerts concluded with an homage to legendary opera diva Leontyne Price. Lead by Maestro Marlon Daniel, the Saint-Georges Festival Orchestre was highlighted by outstanding vocalists Léïla BRÉDENT, Janinah BURNETT, J'Nai BRIDGES, Chauncey PACKER, Darnell ISHMEL, Soloman HOWARD and the CHŒUR DES HOMMES DE BAILLIF.

An official national festival of Guadeloupe (French Caribbean), the Festival International de Musique SAINT-GEORGES is the most prestigious classical music festival in the Caribbean. Held biennially, the event is a tribute to Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de SAINT-GEORGES (1745-1799), a neglected Guadeloupean historical figure.
Born in Baillif, Guadeloupe SAINT-GEORGES is the first known Black composer, a civil rights activist and legendary hero of the French Revolution. Bologne’s extraordinary life has long been a model for creativity, excellence and strength.
Led by the Artistic and Music Director Marlon DANIEL, the festival features a plethora of spectacular concerts, cultural and educational events performed by diverse international artists throughout the Guadeloupe archipelago.
