Dear Friends,
I apologize that it's been quite the while since I posted. It's
been a very busy first quarter for me, could promise to be a pivotal
year for CutTime®, and even this WEEK is just amazing!
First off, CutTime Players finished an important run of FOUR concerts over TWO years at Rocky River (OH) Senior Center
with alum from my alma mater, the Cleveland Institute of Music. Holiday
concerts will never be the same after all we've done to engage
audiences from their seats.
Next, CutTime Simfonica has enjoyed a string concerts in the first quarter: All Seasons, Birmingham Unitarian Church, UMich Hospital for Valentine's Day (picture above) and Rocky River Presbyterian Church, where we received a great professional review from Cleveland Classical!
It's
been a delight to sub into Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit Symphony
Orchestras, meet musicians and tell them about my work developing
CutTime®, as well as play and contract some church orchestras in Grosse
Pointe for a Bach concert and the upcoming Assumption Grotto musical mass series (April 21 & 28).
As a composer, I had a premiere in Pittsburgh, PA of the orchestration of my Elegy (2009) by the Colour of Music Festival Orchestra with an old friend Leslie Dunner conducting. And this Saturday is another premiere closer to home. The Michigan Philharmonic led my Nan Washburn will premiere my orchestration of my biggest hit Highland Park, MI: City of Trees! I can't wait, because I was able to add a lot to the popular "band version."
But WAIT! There's more!
Also coming up is the 2nd annual Draylen Mason Tribute concert, this time at the Detroit Public Library main branch auditorium across from the DIA on Sunday, May 5 at 2pm.
This promises to be another moving commemorative of the young,
charismatic bassist killed by a bomb in Austin, TX last year. We first
did this around his birthday in May; but really anytime is appropriate
to remember what America lost with his murder. We'll feature Simfonica
strings, a local, young soloist, plus pictures, videos and stories of
Dray. This is free and appropriate for children. Donations are
encouraged.
