Sphinx is thrilled to have 
received a record number 
of applicants for the 
Sphinx Performance 
Academy (SPA) 2019! We 
thank all of the applicants 
for their materials and 
look forward to welcoming 
a new class of SPA 
students this summer at 
the Curtis Institute of 
Music, Cleveland Institute 
of Music, and The Juilliard 
School.

Competition Laureates 
Hannah White and 
Sterling Elliott will 
perform a concert of 
solo and duo works, 
presented by Pro 
Musica Detroit on 
March 15th. They 
will also be visiting 
Sphinx Overture 
violin students at 
Maybury Elementary.

NAAS Corner

The next NAAS Audition 
Intensive for violin, 
viola, cello, and bass is 
May 20-23, 2019. NAAS 
Audition Intensives 
hosted by New World 
Symphony offer mock 
auditions, lessons, and 
performance psychology 
training for Black and 
Latinx orchestral 
musicians.
