The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) Mourns the Death of Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush
[Alexandria, VA] The
National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)
remembers and honors the courageous life of the 41st President of the
United States, George Herbert Walker Bush, who passed away at the age of
94. President Bush's noble, gentle, and selfless spirit will forever be
revered by many regardless of their political affiliations.
As a Texas Congressman, Mr. Bush supported the 1968 Fair Housing
Act that made it illegal to discriminate against African Americans
trying to rent or purchase a home. On July 26, 1990, U.S. President
George H.W. Bush passed the Americans with Disabilities Act. This law
prohibits discrimination of those with physical and intellectual
disabilities. This act is one of President Bush's most important and
influential pieces of legislation during his presidency. Mr. Bush served
the United States not only in the Oval Office, but in battle as a World
War II combat pilot.
In 1988, then Vice President Bush honored NOBLE by being a keynote speaker at its Annual Training Conference in New York, NY.
The
41st President lived where the ceiling and visibility of life were
unlimited, reminding us all to as he once said, "Be bold in your caring,
be bold in your dreaming and above all else, always do your best."
We thank Mr. Bush for his service to our country and offer our deepest condolences to the Bush family.
-NOBLE President Vera Bumpers
