Art of Élan's "Young Artists in Harmony" program is offered in partnership with the nationally recognized A Reason To Survive (ARTS),
an organization that believes in the power of the arts and creativity
to literally transform lives – especially those of kids facing
adversity. This fall's program consisted of weekly workshops where 14
students from Sweetwater Unified School District had the opportunity to
be mentored on a weekly basis by Art of Élan musicians Yumi Cho, Batya
MacAdam-Somer, Jason Karlyn, Alex Greenbaum, Susan Wulff, and Rose
Lombardo.
The January 23rd collaborative concert at San Diego Art Institute is also offered as part of the San Diego Symphony's "Hearing the Future" festival,
curated by 2018 MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient Matt Aucoin, whose
“Dual” for cello and double bass will also be performed on the program,
featuring San Diego Symphony cellist Andrew Hayhurst and principal
bassist Jeremy Kurtz-Harris.
