Oakland Public Conservatory: Black Girls Play Accepting Applications for 2018-19

BLACK GIRLS PLAY
Now Accepting Applications for the 2018-19 Cohort!


Black Girls Play (BGP) is a holistic music education program that combines the study of instrumental music education with intergenerational mentorship and leadership development in the music industry for young Black women and girls. There is NO CHARGE for participants. 

By attending weekly private lessons, performance ensemble classes, and production/business of music mentoring sessions, participants develop the skills and self-confidence needed to excel in the field of music as creative leaders in performance and production. Musical instruments will be provided as needed and available. 

Black Girls Play (BGP) provides a gender-specific and culturally resonate educational environment for Black girls to learn the fundamentals of music, ensemble performance, and the business of music. BGP is a music education and mentorship program for girls ages 9 and up.
