New York, NY (October 17, 2018) - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kicked It In Heels
-- an organization with the goal of eradicating health care disparities
in breast cancer and promoting health in survivorship -- is hosting
their 6th Annual Benefit. The fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, October 17th 2018, at Café Medi from 7:00-10:00 PM. The event will be hosted by Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, and will honor acclaimed writer, director and producer, Malcolm Lee along with breast cancer survivor Nike’s Music Marketing Director Dawn Baxter.
Honoree Malcolm Lee is most notably known for making box-office history
with his film Girls Trip and the highly-anticipated upcoming release of
his new film Night School featuring Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart.
Malcolm has been an avid supporter of the fight against breast cancer
and has always made it a point to cast strong African-American female
leads in his films.
Not only is Honoree Dawn Baxter a woman making strides within her
industry, she is a wife, a sister, a mother, and a formidable breast
cancer survivor. After a routine mammogram, Dawn was diagnosed with
breast cancer and over the past year has gone through intensive
chemotherapy and radiation treatment proving herself to be a true
warrior.
“As personal as the diagnosis of breast cancer may be, we feel strongly
that it is a journey that deserves to be acknowledged and those impacted
deserve our support. Our mission is to raise funds to help women
navigate survivorship and provide the tools to assist them in their
journey” says Dr. Janna Andrews, founder of Kicked It in Heels.
100% of all proceeds raised from the benefit will go towards the
fulfillment of the Kicked It In Heels mission to offer the services
women may need as they move toward survivorship including counseling,
prosthesis, bras, and wigs.
