There's
going to be a very special program on my weekly classical music show on
WHPK-FM in Chicago. I will be broadcast two recorded interviews with
two prominent internationally renowned black conductors who are making a
name for themselves in the classical music world.
I will be interviewing Kevin John Edusei, the chief conductor of the Munich Symphony and Konzert Theater Bern and
who has been a guest conductor with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester
Berlin, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the
Philharmonia Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the
Tonkünstler-Orchester Wien aong other orchestras.
The
program will also feature Edusei's new recording of Schubert's 4th and
8th symphonies with the Munich Symphony just released the Solo
Musica/Sony Classical label
I also will be interviewing on the same program Rafael Payare, Chief
Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra in Northern Ireland and who has been a
guest conductor with the Vienna Philharmonic (which he returns to
conduct later this June in Vienna and Lithuania), the Royal
Stockholm Philharmonic, Simón Bolívar Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic,
the BBC Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra, Danish National
Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic and
City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Payare
makes his subscription series debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
with works by Bernstein, Mozart and Bartok pom Jan 18 and 20 and debut with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, leading a program of works by Bartók and Mahler on Monday Jan. 22.
