The Richmond Symphony's 60th Season Opening Concert on WCVE

The Richmond Symphony will open their 60th anniversary season this Thursday evening, September 14th at 8 p.m. in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Arts Center. Acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell will join the orchestra, along with 13-year old violin prodigy Yesong Sophie Lee. The two will perform the Bach Concerto for Two Violins in d minor (BWV 1043), with Bell presenting the Symphonie espagnole for Violin and Orchestra by Eduoard Lalo.  Also on the program is the masterpiece Ein Heldenleben by Richard Strauss and the Theater Set for Orchestra by Ulysses Kay.

Listen to my chat with Music Director Steven Smith, get to know the music and then come to the concert! Tickets are available HERE.

I look forward to seeing you there, but if you can’t make it to the concert hall, you can hear the concert LIVE on 88.9 WCVE and streaming online at

Yours in good music,

Mike Goldberg

Hello Bill!

How exciting! I confess I'm a Joshua Bell  fan, so this combination is simply mind boggling! I'll let friends know.

Thank you SO much!
