Part 25-LBCAA 30 year history

The 25 part-Long Beach Central Area Association 30 year history was not a board project but solely written by current president, John Malveaux. LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD board members such as myself, who double as staff are volunteers, without remuneration.. LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD does not have rented office space or overhead expenses. LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD has never contracted public relations services. However, former reporter. Greg Mellen, of the Press Telegram connected with the our vision and frequently wrote about our events between 2008 and 2013.  After the Press Telegram was sold, and Greg Mellen terminated, none of our events have been covered in a published PT story. We are very grateful for the print coverage provided by Greg Mellen that documented many important events.

William J. Zick is a retired Administrative Law Judge for the Michigan Employment Security Commission and a former Training Officer for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. He founded the AfriClassical.com website and blog.  Mr. Zick's website and blog have been invaluable to the work of LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD during my presidency.

Former Long Beach City Council Sixth district representative, California State Assembly member and US Congress member Laura Richardson invited me, as president of LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD, on a trip to Washington DC with art students. The experience expanded the LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD vision and aspirations. During Laura Richardson tenure as 6th district representative LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD produced the highest level MLK Jr parades & celebrations in the history of the City with community volunteers. Currently, community volunteers have been replaced with contracted services.

Hattie Johnson is a deceased vice president & treasurer of LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD under my tenure and a member long before my presidency. Luther Evans is a deceased member and former confidant whose membership and financial support goes back to the founding of LBCAA. Both deceased members are continuous inspirations and a source of energy.

John Malveaux and the LBCAA/MusicUNTOLD board of directors humbly thank Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, Fourth District, for 30 year Certificate of Recognition.
