On December 6, 1865, as a result of the Civil War, the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified to officially end the institution of slavery. “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” On November 21, 2015, MusicUNTOLD presented FREE celebration titled 150th Anniversary 13th Amendment US Constitution-Abolition of Slavery CONCERT.

The program included four short topical lectures from published author and Abraham Lincoln scholar, Edna Greene Medford Phd of Howard University interspersed between music performances. Music performances included world premiere of THE WINGS, an original poem set to music by South Korean educator/composer Joopoong Kim extolling peace and freedom.sung in English by American soprano Jumi Kim. Composer and Steinway Pianist Karen Walwyn of Howard University also premiered JOURNEY to NEW LANDS  (1st movement of Mother Emanuel).

The 150th Anniversary 13th Amendment US Constitution-Abolition of Slavery CONCERT was the first MusicUNTOLD produced event outside of Los Angeles Metropolitan market.
