Cadenza Artists is proud to announce their newest roster addition, pianist Lara Downes. Recognized as an iconoclastic pianist whose artistry has been called "luscious, moody and dreamy" by the The New York Times and "ravishing" by Fanfare Magazine, Lara Downes takes inspiration where she finds it, going beyond labels like "classical" or "eclectic" to make music that is timeless and timely, starts conversations, and resonates with the world we live in. A Sphinx Medals of Excellence recipient, Lara has also received the 2017 UC Davis Innovator of the Year award for her Sono Luminus recording "America Again", inspired by the words of Langston Hughes and a vision for equality, diversity and unity, expressed through the blended history of American music.

Cuban-American cellist Thomas Mesa was the winner of the 2016 Sphinx Competition. The Cleveland Plain Dealer said, "A listener with closed eyes would have been hard pressed to distinguish the 26-year-old's shapely, expressive performance with that of another gifted artist two or three times his age." He has been concerto soloist with The Cleveland Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at The Hollywood Bowl, among others. He holds degrees from The Juilliard School, Northwestern University, and currently pursues a doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music.

Bassist Aaron Olguin recently won The Gary Karr Prize (1st Place) at the 2017 International Society of Bassists Double Bass Competition. This monetary award also included a new bow and the honor of performing at the ISB's opening recital in 2019. Aaron's participation at the 50th anniversary of the convening, along with a featured performance by his quartet [Bassinova Quartet], were made possible by a 2017 Sphinx MPower Artist Grant.
