announces Toronto’s first Refugee Celebrations Concert on 10th June
2017 in the lead up to World Refugee Day at The Fleck Dance Theatre,
Harbourfront. Tickets on sale now.
With performances by
The concert, spearheaded by former child soldier turned acclaimed recording artist - Emmanuel Jal, will bring together a stunning line up of local and international guest artists including, Nelly Furtado, Faarow, Love Peace & Harmony Ensemble and Vibe the Tribe. The night is set to be a celebration of the incredible talent, resilience and hearts of refugees.
The
evening will take time to joyfully unite, reflect and pay respect for
the struggle of refugees worldwide with the support of Love Peace &
Harmony, whilst showcasing the magnificent strength and talent of
refugees through performances by the Somali- Canadian sister act Faarrow
and enigmatic South Sudanese/Toronto rapper Emmanuel Jal, accompanied
by his good friend Nelly Furtado.

I was a child soldier and I am a refugee but I am also an entrepreneur
and social activist with three business in Canada and a charity called
Gua Africa. My work educates, creates jobs and has a global impact and I
am organising this special concert in my adopted city Toronto, to
highlight and celebrate the experience, resilience, talents and skills
we have as refugees from all around the world.”
