Sphinx honored three outstanding artists of color whose accomplishments distinguish them among musicians in the field: from left, Kelly Hall-Tompkins, Eugene Rogers, and Ailyn Perez. These talented musicians were presented the Sphinx Medal of Excellence at a private luncheon at the Kennedy Center, graciously hosted by Deborah Rutter (The Kennedy Center) and Damian Woetzel (The Aspen Institute), before attending a gala dinner at the Supreme Court of the United States. The luncheon also featured a special performance by Annelle Gregory, the 2017 Robert F. Smith Prize recipient and First Place Laureate of the Sphinx Competition.
