End the 16/17 opera season with the exciting new work Charlie Parker’s YARDBIRD.  Described by The New York Times as “a 90-minute, swift-paced chamber opera with pulsing, jazz-infused score” this new-to-Chicago production from Daniel Schnyder with libretto by Bridgett A. Wimberly is perfect for opera lovers and jazz enthusiasts alike!   Audiences will travel into the mind, heart, and tormented past of bebop great Charlie "Yardbird" Parker — portrayed by renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee — as the saxophonist's spirit returns to the famed Birdland jazz club to complete one final masterpiece.   All ticket-holders are welcome to attend a free pre-opera talk one hour before the curtain rises and, following the opera, are invited to enjoy a 30-minute performance of Parker’s music from members of Orbert Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic.   At the Harris Theater (205 E.
